Something Worth Carrying

There are currently 5 million orphans in Ethiopia alone. Some are orphans because both parents have died, and some simply because their parent wasn’t able to provide for them.

We can help preserve the family and prevent more orphans in Ethiopia, by providing opportunities for women to work and earn a paycheck.

We provide a hand up, rather than a hand out. We empower women with a sustainable job and skill, which in turn means they are able to provide for themselves and their family.

We partner with people just like you. In fact, we have 17 suggestions on ways you can get involved!

Empowering Women

Keeping families together

Not only do the ladies receive a monthly salary, but they also have a personal savings account that Carry 117 opens for them. Each month the ladies are expected to deposit a portion of their paycheck into their personal savings account, and Carry 117 will match it. For the first time in their life, they are planning and saving for the future.

When you visit the Carry 117 compound you can quickly see that the women there are a family and they love getting to work alongside each other each day. Carry 117 has given these women the opportunity to use their skills to create beautiful hand bags and other products that ultimately help them earn a living and take care of their families.  When you visit you can see the joy that fills each woman there and the thankfulness they have at being given the chance to be a part of this ministry.  I have been hugely blessed by this ministry and I love all the products they have made!

Carry 117 is such a light in the Korah area. When you walk into the compound you feel joy and peace. The ladies there are hard workers and they are so thankful for every opportunity Henok gives them. And all you have to do is look into Henok’s eyes to see his heart for the people of Ethiopia! It has been a true blessing for me and my family.
